The Buncombe County Schools Foundation hosted its third annual golf tournament on October 6 at the Omni Grove Park Inn Golf Club. The event is one of several annual fundraising initiatives that help the BCSF support students and educators across Buncombe County Schools.
Funds raised through the tournament help provide scholarships for graduating seniors, grants for educators, and support for innovative projects that bring new opportunities and enriching experiences into classrooms throughout the district.
“This tournament is always a fun way to bring people together who care about Buncombe County Schools,” said Christy Cheek, executive director of BCSF. “We’re grateful to everyone who came out, whether they were playing, sponsoring a team or helping behind the scenes. Their support directly benefits our students and teachers.”
Along with a day of connection and support for local schools, the tournament brought plenty of friendly competition to the course. Enka finished first, followed by T.C. Roberson in second and TD Bank in third.
The tournament also featured a competition among BCS school districts. Each district had a team on the course, competing for the golden putter and extra bragging rights. Enka came out on top in the schools division.
The day wrapped up with lunch and an awards ceremony at the club, where BCSF recognized the winning teams and thanked the sponsors who helped make the tournament possible.
“We’re lucky to have so many businesses and community members who continue to support our schools,” Cheek said. “Their generosity allows us to give back to students and teachers in meaningful ways throughout the year.”
