Students in Thomas Mensch’s class at the Progressive Education Program (PEP) recently traded their pencils and notebooks for excavation tools as they took part in their very own fossil dig! 

During the hands-on activity, students carefully searched through the dig site to uncover hidden pieces of the past. Their discoveries included bones, jewelry, and a variety of other artifacts. Each new find gave students an opportunity to investigate each object they found. 

The fossil dig brought learning to life, and gave students a glimpse into the work of archaeologists and paleontologists as they carefully uncovered and examined their discoveries. 

At PEP, experiences like this show that some of the best learning happens when students can get their hands dirty! Through exploration and discovery, Mr. Mensch’s students were able to dig deeper while making memories along the way.
