Brian turner looks upon his wife who is signing the letter "K" to a student

Some special guests joined in the fun on the final lessons of the school year at Bell Elementary. State Rep. Brian Turner and his wife, Hope, who serves as his legislative assistant, took a tour of the school and participated in class activities earlier this month.

Rep. Turner shared that Mrs. Turner is the first employee in the North Carolina General Assembly who is deaf. Both of them were eager to participate in Anna Kearney’s kindergarten lesson on animal habitats, which included practicing the signs for “bear” and “giraffe.” Mrs. Turner also shared the sign for “butterfly” with Etta and Alexa, the fourth grade ambassadors who were leading the school tour. The Turners also visited a resource class in the Deaf Education Program at the school, where students continued their study of wildlife and where each species lives.

We appreciate Rep. and Mrs. Turner for spending a fun morning of learning with our Bell Bears!
