The summer breeze carried the sounds of students making melodies at Hurricane Band Camp, which took place last week at Cane Creek Middle School.
Campers included students from Cane Creek, along with A.C. Reynolds Middle, A.C. Reynolds High, T.C. Roberson High, Valley Springs Middle, and Koontz Intermediate schools. The student musicians worked with music educators from throughout Buncombe County Schools, as well as guest instructors from around the Carolinas. Upperclassmen from Reynolds and Roberson also helped campers develop their skills and technique.
“We really love having our high school students devote time to this camp,” said Cane Creek band director Adam Stewart. “They know these students will one day be the future of the high school band programs, and they are working to build that legacy.”
The camp concluded with a concert for students to share their musical accomplishments with families, along with a farewell ice cream party.
