At the Buncombe County Board of Education meeting on June 4, BCS Superintendent Dr. Rob Jackson has announced his plan to retire on Aug. 31, 2026. The Board has now started its search for the next BCS Superintendent.
The Board's legal counsel, Campbell Shatley, is overseeing candidate recruitment.
Those interested must complete the special application, which can be downloaded here.
Applications must be received by Campbell Shatley no later than July 27, 2026.
Through July 30, you're invited to share your thoughts on the qualities you'd like to see in the next superintendent. Click here to participate in a short survey. All responses are anonymous, and only collective data will be shared with the Board.
