A simple act of kindness is making a big difference at Black Mountain Elementary School thanks to fifth grader Milan. Throughout the school year, Milan has taken it upon himself to help keep the campus clean by picking up trash around the school grounds.

Whether it’s during recess, walking between classes, or spending a few extra moments outside, Milan has made caring for his school community part of his daily routine. His efforts have not gone unnoticed by classmates or staff members.

“I like helping keep my school clean because it makes it look nicer for everyone,” Milan said. “Some of my friends have started helping pick up trash too, and that makes me really happy.”

Milan’s positive attitude and leadership have inspired others to join in, showing how one student’s actions can encourage an entire community to care for their surroundings.

Teacher Caitlin Clark said Milan’s character shines both inside and outside the classroom.

“Milan is an exceptional student,” Mrs. Clark said. “He leads by example every single day, and his kindness and willingness to help others make a lasting impact on our school community.”

Through his thoughtful actions, Milan is proving that even small acts of service can create meaningful change.
