Charles D. Owen High School’s JROTC program honored the true meaning of Memorial Day with a  touching wreath ceremony at the school’s Vietnam memorial. Students, staff, families and community members gathered together to remember the former Owen High students who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving their country during the Vietnam War.

The ceremony featured special performances from the Owen High band and chorus, whose patriotic music added to the emotional tribute. As the wreath was placed at the memorial, attendees paused in reflection to honor the bravery, service, and sacrifice of the fallen.

JROTC cadets played an important role throughout the ceremony, demonstrating respect, leadership, and patriotism while helping preserve the memory of those who never returned home. The event served as a powerful reminder of the importance of Memorial Day and the lasting impact these heroes continue to have on the Owen community.

Through music, remembrance and reflection, the Owen High community came together to ensure the sacrifices of former students are never forgotten.
