After walking across the stage and earning his diploma, a BCS graduate is now embarking on an international adventure to help families in need.
Michael Schruckmayr of Nesbitt Discovery Academy is one of just 13 students from around the world selected for an international internship through the World Food Prize Foundation. Often called the "Nobel Prize for Food and Agriculture," it was founded in 1986 by Nobel Peace Prize winner Dr. Norman E. Borlaug to honor breakthroughs in food security
On June 15, Michael departs for Peru, where he will perform research at the headquarters of the International Potato Center and will be living with a host family.
Michael will return to North Carolina in mid-August to start his studies in Plant Biology at North Carolina State University.
