Families gathered at Estes Elementary last week to say “so long” to winter, while using science to spring ahead.

The school’s Family S.T.E.M. Night featured the theme “Winter Wonderland,” and included hands-on fun throughout the campus using principles of science, technology, engineering, and math. One experiment gave families a chance to create an exploding snowman. At another station, visitors built polar bear sleds to see which materials were fastest on the racetrack. In the gym, students had an opportunity to ice fish and build an igloo.
