The UNC Asheville women’s basketball team welcomed students from across Buncombe County Schools for an Education Day game, giving elementary students the chance to experience college athletics while cheering on the Bulldogs.

Students from Johnston, Woodfin, Weaverville, Oakley and Charles C. Bell elementary schools filled the Kimmel Arena stands, creating an energetic atmosphere with school spirit and excitement. Throughout the game, students waved pom-poms, held handmade signs and loudly supported the Bulldogs from tipoff to the final buzzer.

In addition to the on-court action, students enjoyed interactive activities designed to keep them engaged and moving. A Zumba dance party hosted by the YMCA brought students onto their feet, adding to the festive environment and encouraging physical activity.

The Education Day game provided a unique opportunity for students to connect learning, wellness and community engagement through sports.

Buncombe County Schools expresses our appreciation to UNC Asheville, the YMCA and Tanger Outlets for sponsoring the event and helping create a memorable experience for students across the district.
