Owen Middle School students took part in a Waypoint Adventure at the Buncombe County Schools Aquatic Center, where they learned the basics of kayaking while building teamwork and confidence.

The hands-on experience gave students the opportunity to get into the water and develop new skills, including proper paddling techniques, balance and boat control. Many students expressed excitement as they practiced kayaking in a safe, supportive environment.

Beyond learning a new sport, the Waypoint Adventure emphasized communication, trust and collaboration. Students worked together to encourage one another, follow instructions and strengthen friendships throughout the experience.

The program aims to support student growth through experiential learning that promotes problem-solving, teamwork and personal development.

Buncombe County Schools is grateful for its partnership with Waypoint Adventures, which helps provide meaningful, engaging opportunities that promote student growth through experiential learning.
