💃✨ The house lights came down, and more than two dozen dancers stepped onto the stage and into a lively routine of “On Broadway,” kicking off Clyde A. Erwin High School’s Winter Dance Showcase on Jan. 8.
Held at the Bob Johnson Performing Arts Center, the event highlighted the talent, dedication, and personal growth of Erwin dance students. It also demonstrated how dance supports students both physically and emotionally, offering a safe and expressive outlet while building confidence and joy in learning.
Performances reflected months of hard work and artistic exploration, with students showcasing not only technical skill, but also enthusiasm, teamwork, and self-expression, said Erwin High dance teacher Kelli Hall.
“I'm so proud of all the hard work, energy, and enthusiasm my students put into the showcase,” she said. “Watching their growth over the last 2 years has been the most rewarding adventure.”
The showcase featured solos, duets, and group performances from all skill levels, along with a wide range of styles and songs- from “Phantom of the Opera” and “Bille Jean” to “Carnaval del Barrio” and “Express.”
“Dance has made me more confident and excited to come to school,” said Jermaria Jones, a senior dance student. “I really enjoy it.”
