Child handing out candy to a WPS student on the fall walk

Last week, students from Weaverville Primary School (WPS) filled Main Street with smiles, laughter, and fall spirit during the school’s annual Fall Walk. Dressed proudly in their WPS T-shirts, students walked together with teachers, staff, and families, carrying bags generously filled with treats from local businesses and churches.

Interim Principal Rachel Austin shared that this long-standing tradition has been a highlight in the community for over 30 years. “It’s such a special event for our students and our town,” she said. “The Fall Walk brings everyone together and celebrates the wonderful connection between WPS and our community.”

Friends, families, and neighbors gathered along the sidewalks to cheer as students paraded through downtown, collecting goodies and sharing joy. The day’s celebration reflected the true spirit of Weaverville where community, connection, and a love of learning come together each fall in a fun and memorable way.
