Students across the state have started the school year as stronger leaders after a special visit to Western North Carolina. Delegates from 30 schools attended the 65th annual North Carolina Association of Student Councils (NCASC) Summer Leadership Workshop on the campus of Mars Hill University. Rising 6th graders through seniors spent a week preparing to make a difference.
Buncombe County Schools Superintendent Dr. Rob Jackson led a teambuilding activity and took part in small group sessions with student council members and their advisors. All activities revolved around the NCASC theme for the year, "Spotlight on Leadership."
Participants left with projects and strategies to help lead positive change in this new school year.
