When students walk through the doors of Black Mountain Elementary School (BME) on August 25, they’ll be greeted by a brand-new splash of color. Art teacher Jolie Atkins has been hard at work this summer creating a mural that celebrates the school’s spirit.

The mural painted in school colors and a welcoming style is designed to inspire students as they begin a new year of learning. Mrs. Atkins said she wanted the artwork to reflect the heart of Black Mountain Elementary - its students, teachers, and the community that supports them.

Principal Bill Honey shared his excitement about the new addition.

“We are proud to showcase this addition as a reflection of our school spirit and pride, welcoming everyone who walks through the doors at BME,” he said. “This is a super exciting time for all of us!”

As students and staff embark on the new school year, the mural will serve as a cheerful reminder that BME is not just a school, but a community full of Warpony spirit and Owen pride.
