A retired Buncombe County Schools teacher is sharing a lesson in community service.
For four decades, Steve Ianniello has donated his service to maintain a bus stop and turnaround area on Billy Cove Road in Candler. He taught at Enka High School from 1984 to 2014, and he continues volunteering to this day.
“I’ve mowed it about 15 times a year for the last 40 years,” Mr. Ianniello shared. That’s 600 times. “I enjoy doing it and my other volunteer work. I help at my church and lead guided hikes at the Arboretum, too. I love it all.”
Thank you, Mr. Ianniello, for your service to the students of Buncombe County Schools.
