Stefanie Buckner Hill is more than an assistant principal at Clyde A. Erwin High (CAEHS) School - she’s a proud Warrior alum, a dedicated mentor, and one of the first faces students see each morning as she drives a school bus.
A graduate of CAEHS herself, Mrs. Hill has spent her career giving back to Buncombe County Schools (BCS) and the community. Over the years, she’s worn many hats, including math teacher, instructional coach, and now assistant principal. No matter the role, her commitment to students remains the same.
“I love being with kids and the pace of high school,” she said. “I love being known by the students. Seeing the impact I have on each child is rewarding. This school gave me so much as a student, and it’s an honor to serve here now.”
Freshman Casyveon said that Mrs. Hill has helped him daily at school, “She’s a good person. Mrs. Hill works with me even when I get upset, and is one of my favorite people I can go to here at school.”
Junior Kyahia knows that Mrs. Hill will always be there for her.
“No matter what you go through, she is always going to help you through it,” she said.
Principal Chip Cody says Mrs. Hill’s leadership is rooted in genuine compassion.
“Stefanie leasts with both strength and empathy,” he said. “She’s respected by students and staff alike, because she shows up - literally driving the bus - and she never hesitates to go the extra mile.”
Whether she’s supporting teachers, guiding students, or navigating morning traffic in a school bus, Mrs. Hill is proof that true leadership is built on service, heart, and a deep love for community.
During this National Assistant Principals Week, we thank all the amazing BCS assistant principals for everything they do each and every day.
