Supt. Dr. Rob Jackson presents a silver award to Coach David Ball

The Buncombe County Schools district athletics specialist has been recognized for being at the top of his game.

Last week, the North Carolina Athletic Directors Association presented David Ball with the Gerald M. McGee Award of Excellence. The honor, named for the longtime association director, is presented each year to someone who represents excellence in achievement and has contributed to the profession as an athletics director.

Coach Ball, an Erwin High School graduate, has spent his entire career with Buncombe County Schools. He served for 36 years as a teacher, athletic administrator, and assistant principal at Erwin before moving into this current role in 2015.

Thank you, Coach Ball, for your leadership and dedication to BCS students and teammates. Congratulations!
