Girls sticks a photo on the farm chat in front of the classroom at Emma Elementary

Playing with food helped students at Emma Elementary learn some important lessons.

Thanks to a visit from the Buncombe County Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Committee and members of Erwin High School’s FFA, second graders enjoyed a story called “In This Very Moment.” The book explains how farms provide materials used in products families eat and use every day.

“You realize a lot of these younger kids don’t know where their food and their clothes come from, and it’s something even a lot of adults may not think about and take for granted,” said Erwin High FFA member Jackson Reeves. “These visits can get kids thinking that maybe farming is something they can do when they grow up.”
