Charles D. Owen High cheerleaders dominated this season with strength, grace and an unshakable determination that carried them all the way to a state championship. After Hurricane Helene left its mark on the valley, the cheerleaders football season was cut short due to the storm. Instead of cheering on the Warhorses they began cheering on their community, even helping give back to those that gave so much to them under the Friday night lights.

In the chaos that followed, the team’s dreams of competing at the state championship seemed distant and almost impossible. But what could have been the end of their season became the start of an incredible journey. Instead of sinking, the cheerleaders found their rhythm. They became a family, determined to turn their season around.

At regionals, the Owen cheerleaders stunned the crowd. Their routine was a blend of sharp motions, daring stunts, and a passion that couldn’t be ignored. They secured their spot at the state championship. The victory was emotional; for many on the team, it felt like a glimmer of light after months of darkness.

When the announcers revealed the winner, Charles D. Owen High cheerleaders were named the state champions. Tears streamed down their faces as they held their trophy high, a tangible reminder of how far they’d come.

“This season wasn’t just about cheerleading - it was about heart, resilience, and believing in each other,” said head coach Taylee Newhouse. “No matter how deep the challenges felt, we rose together, and that makes this victory so powerful.”

The team’s Cinderella season became a source of pride for the entire community. Their victory wasn’t just about cheer - it was about hope and strength to rebuild. This season was a journey, a rise, and a reminder that strength isn’t about avoiding the waves - it’s about learning to rise above them.
