A new music video features the voices and faces of Erwin Middle School.
The production started last year as a collaboration among the school, LEAF Global Arts, OneVoice, Chorus America, and local singer-songwriter Melissa McKinney. She worked with choral students for six weeks on a song called “The Village.”
“She spent time teaching the kids about her own musical journey, songwriting processes and even helped our kids write their own verses in the style of [local musician] Leeds Lyric Jones,” said Erwin Middle School chorus teacher Audri Knight. “For the final week, Lyric herself came in to work with the kids, and it was a blast watching the kids interact with the entire music-making process, from writing to filming to producing - and even playing the piano with Lyric as she sang.”
