At Charles C. Bell Elementary Amanda Herbert is more than the school counselor - she’s a source of support, encouragement, and kindness for every student who walks through the doors. Whether helping a child work through big emotions, leading classroom lessons on friendship and problem solving, or simply offering a reassuring smile in the hallway, Ms. Herbert’s presence is felt throughout the school.
“Being a school counselor for me is having the opportunity to be part of students' lives and educational journey,” she said. “I am able to teach students important skills that they can carry with them.”
Ms. Herbert taught in England prior to making her move to the states. During that change she transitioned from teaching to her current role as a school counselor. Her services extend far beyond one-on-one counseling. She works closely with teachers, staff, and families to ensure students’ social and emotional needs are met. Herbert tailors her approach to meet the unique needs of each child.
Principal Danny Fusco recognizes the tremendous impact Herbert has on the school community.
“Ms. Herbert helps Bell students, faculty, and parents/guardians find direction, guidance, and support for matters of life,” he said. “She works as a tireless advocate for students to be successful at school and in life.”
Herbert’s dedication goes above and beyond for everyone she comes in contact with.
“Being with children is the most rewarding part,” she explained. “I love working with the elementary school students, because their smiles and open hearts at this age are genuine. Just knowing I am a part of each student’s life for a short period of time, I hope I’m making a difference for them.”
Amanda Herbert continues to make Bell Elementary a place where every child feels supported, understood, and ready to succeed.
