T.C. Roberson High School’s Early Childhood Education class recently hosted a heartwarming reading day for its preschool students, creating a memorable experience for both “big” and “little” kids alike. The preschoolers arrived in two small groups, ensuring each had quality one-on-one time with their high school mentor, or “big kid.” Each child chose a book, found a cozy spot, and enjoyed a personalized reading session.
After story time, the high schoolers guided their preschool buddies to the snack table, where they continued to bond over their chosen books.
“Seeing the high school students so bonded with the little ones is truly touching,” shared Early Childhood Education Teacher Paula Dinga. “I don’t often get to witness these interactions since I teach the other half of the class, but moments like this highlight the impact of their relationships.”
High school junior Kailynn expressed her joy in interacting with the “littles,” saying it’s rewarding to watch each preschooler’s personality blossom. This reading day was a beautiful celebration of literacy and connection – an event that left smiles on every face.
