Each year, BCS holds a multi-day orientation for its licensed staff. Please review the information below, including the participant requirements, to determine which day(s) you need to attend.
Orientation Schedule:
DAY 1- Tuesday, August 11, 2026
Time: 8:30am - 3:30pm
Location: BCS Central Services Building (use entrance 'A')
Attendance & Compensation:
1st-year BTs: Required and will be paid a stipend
All other licensed staff new to BCS: Do not attend
Focus: Beginning Teacher Support Program
Participant count: approximately 50-70
Lunch: provided for BT1s
DAY 2- Wednesday, August 12, 2026
Time: 8:30am - 3:30pm
Location: BCS Central Services Building (use entrance 'A')
Attendance & Compensation:
1st-year BTs: Required and will be paid a stipend
All other licensed staff new to BCS: Do not attend
Focus: BT Curriculum and Instruction / EC (with Directors, Specialists & Coaches)
Participant count: approximately 50-70
Lunch: on your own
DAY 3- Thursday, August 13, 2026
Time: 8:30am - 3:30pm
Location: BCS Central Services Building (use entrance 'A')
Attendance & Compensation:
1st-year BTs: Required and will be paid a stipend
Experienced Educators: Encouraged to attend. To receive a trade-day certificate for this day, you would attend the BEST Training from 8:30am - 11:30am and then work in your school from 12:30pm-3:30pm (Alternative Licensure candidates will attend a mandatory meeting with Carol O’Connell in the afternoon).
Focus: This Blending Educational Strategies Together (BEST) training will prepare teachers and staff to fully integrate technology into the classroom.
Participant count: approximately 80-100
Lunch: on your own
DAY 4- Friday, August 14, 2026
Time: 8:15am - 12:15pm then return to your school for the afternoon
Location: Enka High School Auditorium
Attendance & Compensation:
1st-year BTs: Required and will receive a trade-day certificate
All other licensed staff new to BCS: Required and will receive a trade-day certificate
Focus: Mission & Vision, Human Resources, Communications and Technology Services information. Breakfast will be served before the meeting and an opportunity to visit with some of our BCS partners before the meeting and during the breaks - so make sure to arrive early!
Participant count: approximately 150-170
Lunch: boxed lunch provided (sponsored by BCSF).
