Friday night was a night of celebration at T.C. Roberson High School as the Rams came together to recognize a team that made its mark in school and North Carolina high school sports history.

During Friday night’s football game against South Caldwell, members of the T.C. Roberson men’s volleyball team were presented with their state championship rings in a special ceremony on the field. The celebration gave students, families, staff and fans the opportunity to recognize the team’s historic accomplishment in front of the school community.

On May 16, 2026, the Rams captured the final NCHSAA unsanctioned men’s volleyball championship before the sport became officially sanctioned for this upcoming year.

T.C. Roberson finished the season with a 24-4 record and capped its championship run with a 3-0 sweep of Northern Guilford, winning 25-21, 29-27 and 25-13. Jayden Specht-Mitchell was named the Rams’ MVP following the championship match.

While the championship itself was an impressive accomplishment, the season represented something even bigger for the Rams community. As men’s volleyball moves toward becoming an officially sanctioned sport, the Rams will forever be part of the sport’s history in North Carolina.

The ring ceremony was a chance to pause and celebrate the students who helped build that history.

With their championship rings now on their fingers, the Rams can look back on a season defined by hard work, teamwork and a championship that will remain a special part of T.C. Roberson’s athletic history.
