Sure the snow has melted and the sun’s out, but a late February dip in the pool is still much more shocking than soothing. Still, a group of brave and dedicated BCS School Resource Officers, joined by Owen High assistant principal and Black Mountain Reserve Officer Nathan Padgett, kept their pledge to take the plunge.
The first-ever Buncombe County Special Olympics Polar Plunge took place Feb. 28 at the Grant Southside Center pool to raise funds supporting competition, health services, and year-round sports training. Drenched deputies and soaked sergeants of the Buncombe County Sheriff's Office were joined by teams from across the community to make a big splash and get set for this year’s Buncombe County Special Olympics games.
Deputy Malachi Morgan of Cane Creek Middle School was honored as the top law enforcement fundraiser.
BCS is proud to again host this year’s events, returning in May to T.C. Roberson and A.C. Reynolds high schools.
