Student finding the circumference of a circle.

North Windy Ridge Intermediate served up the ultimate Pi Day celebration, with mathematical marvel and a whole lot of fun.

Students and teachers went round and round with excitement as they embraced the irrationality of Pi and indulged in a never-ending feast of numerical delights. From finding the circumference of a circle and Pi-Ku, sixth grade math teacher Brandi Fleckenstein wanted to make the day memorable for her students.

“It’s important to make Pi Day fun and celebrate the wonder and beauty of mathematics,” she said. “My favorite thing about Pi Day is the excitement of my students - when they get a calculation that is close to the actual digits of pi or sing the digits of pi along with a familiar tune!”
