On Tuesday, November 1st, eleven CHS student members of the CHS Games and Services Club rolled up their sleeves and got to work sorting, tossing for composting, and bagging 6,000 carrots as part of a service learning project for Manna Food Bank. Accompanied by club co-sponsors EC teacher Carl Cunningham, media specialist Martha Martin, and social worker Jon West, students received a tour of operations and learned about Manna Food Bank’s mission and outreach in addressing food insecurity in Western North Carolina. The final destination of those 6,000 carrots? Yancy and Avery counties, where bagged produce will be distributed to food pantries to provide for individuals and families in need.
Way to show that Eagle Pride, Games and Service Club!
