Lead Custodian Raymond Bethea (otherwise known as “Captain Ray”, when wearing his sea captain’s hat), oversees custodial operations at CHS. Captain Ray’s hard work shows up in real ways at Community High School through grounds beautification, maintaining classrooms and office spaces, and making the hallways shine with his Chariot Floor Scrubber that he calls “Leroy”. What’s been keeping Captain Ray busy this summer while students and staff are on break? “I’ve been cleaning classrooms, focusing on ductwork, vacuuming the air vents - just tightening things up for the next semester.”
Mr. Ray’s role at CHS extends far beyond custodial duties. He serves as a mentor, providing a unique point of support for students who regularly turn to him for conversation, advice, and guidance. Mr Ray is a Community High School institution, having loyally served its students and staff since 2013.
Favorite snack that gets Captain Ray through those long summer days? “Chips and iced cold sweet tea. Milo’s. Extra sweet”.
