Four Reynolds students stand behind the serving line waiting to serve residents at Transformation Village

On a chilly, drizzly evening, a group of BCS students served up warm smiles and hot plates.

Reynolds High School’s Key Club and National Honor Society partnered with Asheville Buncombe Community Christian Ministries (ABCCM) to prepare and serve dinner at Transformation Village. The program provides housing for women, mothers with children, and veterans. 

3 Reynolds students pose for a photo in front of the Transformation Village kitchen“I made it a priority to be here,” said senior Tommy Philyaw, a  member of both Key Club and National Honor Society. “I feel like I’m actually doing something for others, and can see it in real-time. It feels good that we can make a difference.”

A Reynolds student standing behind the serving line smiles “Kids learn there are ways to serve with their hands, and not just their pockets,” said Reynolds Key Club advisor Beth Love. “They learn there are places like Transformation Village in our community that they may not have known about, and that there are plenty of places where they can make a positive impact.”
