Application Process

All students who are 16+ and have earned at minimum enough credits to be a junior (13 credits) are welcome to apply to Middle College.  Students are advised to check with their high school counselor at the base school to discuss credits earned and options for transferring to Middle College.

An interview will be set up and both the student and parent/guardian are requested to attend. The decision to come to Middle College is usually reached during the interview where transcripts are reviewed and schedules are discussed to see if Middle College is the best option for the student's academic goals.
Students attending Middle College need to provide their own transportation to and from the A-B Tech campus. The Asheville Transit city bus lines also serve A-B Tech and are sometimes a good form of transportation for students without a car.

Prerequisites for attendance

Before attending Middle College students should successfully complete:
  • Health/PE
  • English 1
  • English 2
  • Math 1/Algebra 1 and Math 2/Geometry
  • World History

  • Earth/ Environmental Science
